IMPORTANT INFORMATION / TERMS AND AGREEMENTS

Important Information

Regarding Medications

Due to Washington state and federal law I CAN NOT discuss medication doses and/or specific medications with vet staff.

Regarding Separation Anxiety

I do NOT treat separation anxiety anymore.

Please schedule a phone consultation if you are not sure if your dog has clinical separation anxiety VS boredom / separation distress.

Terms and Agreements

  • No Positive Punishment.

Clients that are currently using positive punishment (shock, prong, choke, or 'dominance-based training') must agree to forgo those methods and/or devices.

NO EXCEPTIONS. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE TERMINATION OF THE WORKING RELATIONSHIP AND THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS ON UNUSED SESSIONS. THIS IS NOT NEGOTIABLE.

  • Replace inappropriate tools and/or methods with humane, sound and safe devices.

I will actively help clients to replace inappropriate tools and/or methods with humane, sound, and safe devices.

I may require the client to surrender the p+ devices they are currently using. These will be exchanged for humane equipment.

Example: clients using a prong collar may be required to give the prong collar to their train in exchange for a usable body harness.

  • No magic wand or silver bullet.

My success with complex, and potentially dangerous cases boils down to education on canine behavior and sciences, knowledge of intraspecies behavior modification, my skillset in training very complex behavior cases for the last 10yrs, and above all patience.

I can not guarantee results, any more than a therapist can guarantee results with their patients. My job is to guide guardians through the process.

  • Home work

For cases that hire me for day training and/or intensive day training, my job is also to help guardians set a foundation for progress.

It is up to clients to read the materials I suggest and to work with their dog consistently in a fashion we have outlined.

  • Communicate

It is up to clients to keep me in the loop so I can help! We will troubleshoot, hone skills and develop a knowledge bse in canine body language and sciences.

  • Honest and Unbiased

Clients can be assured they will always receive an honest, unbiased and unsensationalized assessment of their case and prognosis of resolution if/when possible.

  • No Dog Parks

I DO NOT go into dog parks. Therefore, I can not help with stronger recall at the dog park.

I also will NOT help with recall for designated ‘on leash only’ areas. This means no unofficial dog parks, no of leash at state or municipal parks.

Evaluations and Consultations - In Person

Consultations and evals can be morphed to one or the other in the event:

- a case is not safe

- clients decide they are unable to work with the dog for any reason

- the evaluation indicates the case is safe to work

Bridge the Bark will make the final decision on which consultation is appropriate.

Evaluation

1 hour

  • 150

This consultation is designed to assess the case and determine if behavior modification is feasible or safe in the current home.

In cases where the situation is not safe for the client or dog, a brief write up of metrics for the new home will be provided.

Ideal option for:

- guardians that adopted a dog and were not told of advanced behavioral challenges.

- events where the dog is biting members of the home and treatment may not be feasible, or safe, but clients want to do their due diligence before making weighty decisions.

A NOTE FROM ERIC

- I can not promise, or guarantee a case is workable until I have physically seen the dog, their home environment etc.

- I can guarantee clients will be given a very honest, and at times blunt, assessment of the liability of their case and the prognosis of treatment, so they can make an informed decision about next steps.

- While I pride myself in delivering difficult to hear information in a compassionate and empathic manner, sometimes I have to be very blunt and call out potentially dangerous or inappropriate interactions between dog and guardian that may be contributing to the unwanted behaviors.

- I will not assist in fear aggressive or reactive dog’s recall without first addressing the emotional component to their behavior (ie their fear/anxiety around their triggers).

Basic Consultation

1.5 to 2 hour

  • 175

Best for helping with:

- unwanted behaviors

- teaching unemotional basic skills such as leash manners, door manners, impulse control in unemotional situations (ie dog rushes the door due to excitement NOT fear, anxiety etc).

Includes:

- consultation only

- No write up. The client is responsible for note taking.

- I will provide links/key words to videos, supplies and equipment.

Behavior Consultation

1.5 to 2 hour

  • 275

Best for addressing issues of:

- fear

- anxiety

- aggression

- leash reactivity.

Includes:

- Brief write up of main topics and treatment plan discussed.

- Video review of their practice sessions.

- Write up can be sent to the vet clinic upon guardians written request(a simple email asking me to send the report to the clinic will suffice as written permission).

*Bridge the Bark does NOT discuss cases with third parties unless there is written permission from the guardian. Vet’s are more than welcome to contact me directly to discuss the case and/or my observations.

Follow-Up Services

Only available after a consultation. No exceptions.

- if using sniff spot: client must rent sniffspot and share the address within 48 hours of appointment time.

Notes on multi-dog lessons:

- all dogs for ‘multi-dog’ lessons must be screened by me prior to session.

- dogs on prong collars, choke chains, or shock collars are NOT candidates for multi-dog sessions.

- may require an additional consult with ‘demo dog’ to determine their eligibility.

*Sniffspots are excellent for recall work, if demo/dummy dogs are available for trigger controls and/or multidog play.

Intensive Day Training

2 hours 3 days / week

  • 550 / week

How it works:

Eric will take your dog for individualized training for 2 hours on 3 days / week.

Best for:

- dogs whose options are running out

- houses dealing with very complex cases

- cases that have plateaued with their guardian and can't seem to figure out how to get over the hurdle.

Day training is appropriate for behavior and basic cases.

Anxious Dogs:

- in the event the dog is very anxious and/or struggles to trust strangers, initial ‘day training’ may be one hour sessions, or less.

- this will be based on the dog’s needs and their best interest.

- 1 hour sessions are charged a basic follow up package.

- as the dog gains trust in me, we will increase to the intensive 2 hour sessions.

CLIENT REQUIREMENTS FOR DAY TRAINING AND/OR INTENSIVE DAY TRAINING

Required:

- Clients are required to attend 1 hour per week to learn what I have been working on with your dog and to improve your handling/ training abilities so that you are in a position to work with your dog for life.

Encouraged:

-Clients are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible. In essence, you can get 6 hours per week of private tutelage and real time troubleshooting.

Missed Sessions:

- Due to the fact that life happens, I allow up to 2 missed ‘transfer sessions.’

- After two missed sessions, I will not be able to continue working with you or your dog.

- I do take into account extenuating circumstances such as a medical emergency, death in the family, or disability.
